Amra Iuoop and Mohammed Fawaz, a couple from Sri Lanka currently residing in Dubai, are passionate about preparing the next generation for the future. They have combined their expertise in education and technology to empower children with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. Amra’s background in Biomedical Science and experience in digital pedagogy has positioned her as a leader in educational technology, collaborating with global organizations to empower youth through skill development programs. Together, they have founded educational initiatives like Global Tutor, CurveUp, and BootUp to make a positive impact on children’s education.

Amra’s journey to entrepreneurship began when she met her future husband, Mohammed, who was a young entrepreneur running an edtech startup. Their shared passion for education and entrepreneurship led them to co-found various ventures together, overcoming setbacks and failures along the way. Despite a failed startup, they persevered, getting married and launching CurveUp and BootUp, focusing on providing innovative educational experiences to children in the UAE and beyond. With Mohammed’s background in volunteer work and entrepreneurship, his contributions to the edtech field have been recognized globally, earning him prestigious awards for his work.

The couple attributes their success in the UAE to the supportive ecosystem, access to global talent, and government initiatives focused on innovation and entrepreneurship. The strategic policies and funding opportunities in the UAE have allowed them to scale their ventures and form key partnerships. Their latest venture, BootUp, combines physical and digital learning experiences to upskill children for the future. Through interactive learning kits, storytelling lessons, and digital simulations, BootUp offers a holistic learning approach that extends beyond traditional education methods.

Incorporating CurveUp under the Dubai Development Authority in mid-2022, Amra and Mohammed have continued to innovate and expand their educational initiatives. They credit their family’s support for their success and remain committed to making a difference by empowering children and preparing them for future careers. Running a business together as a family has its challenges, but their shared purpose and vision of creating a brighter future for the next generation keep them motivated. Their journey exemplifies the power of combining personal passion with a shared professional vision, showcasing the impact that determination and a supportive environment like the UAE can have on turning dreams into reality.
