The UAE Under-18 Boys’ Team recently clinched the Silver Medal at the 54-hole Pan Arab Youth Golf Championships in Tunisia. The team finished second to Morocco, with Rayan Ahmed leading the charge. Ahmed’s final-round score of 74 helped him finish with a total of 215, one under par. Although Ahmed finished four shots behind Morocco’s Youssef El Hali in the individual category, he still secured the Silver Medal.

In the team competition, Morocco dominated, winning the Gold Medal by eight strokes. The UAE team, comprised of Ahmed, Skaik, and Cherrat, secured the Silver Medal, while Tunisia took home the Bronze. The team format featured the best two scores from each team of three players each day, with the course measuring 6,800 yards. Both the Boys Under-18 and Boys Under-16 divisions were recognized as World Amateur Golf Ranking events.

While Morocco’s El Hali claimed the Gold Medal in the Under-18 Boys’ Individual Division, UAE’s Skaik missed out on an individual medal despite an impressive start. In the under-16 division, UAE players also performed well, with Mohamed Thabet finishing tied for 12th, Abdullah Darwish in 17th, and Abdullah Saleem in 18th place. Participating countries in the Pan Arab Boys’ Divisions included Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Tunisia, and the UAE.

Overall, the UAE Under-18 Boys’ Team put on a commendable performance at the Pan Arab Youth Golf Championships. Despite finishing second to Morocco, the team’s Silver Medal victory is a testament to their skill and determination. With strong individual performances from players like Rayan Ahmed and Mohamed Thabet, the UAE showcased their talent on an international stage. The team’s success is a promising sign for the future of golf in the UAE and sets a solid foundation for upcoming competitions.

The tournament’s format, which included both team and individual categories, allowed players to showcase their skills in a competitive setting. The competition was fierce, with players from various Arab countries vying for the top spots. The event served as a valuable opportunity for young golfers to test their abilities and gain international exposure. With the support of organizations like The R&A, events like the Pan Arab Youth Golf Championships provide a platform for emerging talents to shine and represent their countries with pride.

In the end, the Pan Arab Youth Golf Championships highlighted the growing popularity and talent in the region’s golf scene. The success of the UAE Under-18 Boys’ Team and the individual achievements of players like Rayan Ahmed demonstrate the country’s potential in the sport. As golf continues to gain momentum in the Arab world, events like this championship play a crucial role in nurturing young talent and fostering a competitive spirit among players. The future looks bright for the UAE’s golfing community, with promising prospects emerging at events like this one.
