Alshanfara emerged victorious in the 2023 Qatar Coupe de France des Chevaux Arabes, a prestigious race sponsored by Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) held at Chantilly, France. The race, a 1,600m Group 2 PA contest, featured some of the top runners in the field, including Mahsoub and Mureb, both owned by Al Shaqab Racing.
Mahsoub, trained by Thomas Fourcy and ridden by Christophe Soumillon, had previously won the Qatar Prix Massoud at Bordeaux Le Bouscat on his first outing. On the other hand, Mureb, trained by Francois Rohaut and ridden by Anthony Crastus, secured a win in the Prix Norniz at La Teste-Bassin Arcachon in his debut race.
The race also featured Safre Tourettes, who had previously won the Qatar Prix Denouste and finished third in the Prix Norniz. Wasib, owned by Al Nujaifi Racing Ltd, also participated in the race, adding to the competition.
Alshanfara, owned by Abdulla bin Mohammed Abdulla Hamad Al Attiyah and trained by Thomas Foucry, made a lasting impression in only his second racecourse appearance. Ridden by Cristian Demuro, he stayed towards the back of the field throughout the race but surged ahead in the final stages to claim victory ahead of the favorite Ejaaby.
The Qatar Coupe de France des Chevaux Arabes showcased the speed and talent of these magnificent horses, with Alshanfara emerging as the winner in an impressive display of skill and determination. The race, sponsored by QREC, continues to attract top-quality competitors from around the world and remains a highlight of the racing calendar.
