The First Esports World Cup Ends with Historic Celebration in Riyadh

The first-ever Esports World Cup held in Riyadh concluded with a spectacular Closing Ceremony featuring performances by international stars Kid Cudi, Rabeh Saqer, Sevdaliza, and Steve Aoki. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman graced the event, which marked the end of an epic two-month competition that set new benchmarks for the global esports industry. The grand finale took place at The Venue and was attended by thousands of fans who witnessed the thrilling performances.

The Esports World Cup saw 1,500 athletes from over 200 clubs compete in 22 tournaments featuring 21 world-renowned titles, all vying for a record-breaking $60 million prize pool. The event garnered 500 million viewers and 250 million hours of content consumed, solidifying its position as the most-watched esports event of 2024. The League of Legends competition, in particular, attracted 3.5 million fans tuning in simultaneously to watch T1 emerge victorious over Top Esports.

Saudi Arabia’s Team Falcons was crowned as the first-ever Esports World Cup Club Champions, led by Chairman Mossad ‘Msdossary’ Al-Dossary. The team dominated the competition, securing two tournament championships and six Top 3 finishes, earning a $7 million first prize and the prestigious EWC Club Championship trophy. The Celebration of Champions that followed featured fireworks, a stunning light show, and inspiring stories of the champions’ journeys, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of esports athletes.

The Esports World Cup wasn’t just a showcase of competitive gaming, but a global event that captivated audiences worldwide. The event showcased the growing popularity and significance of esports in the sporting world, with millions of fans tuning in to watch their favorite teams and players compete. The success of the Esports World Cup highlights the potential for esports to continue to grow and evolve as a mainstream form of entertainment and competition.
