The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) is gearing up for the Qatar International Baja, taking place on October 30-November 2 in Lusail. A total of 38 cars and 62 motorcycles, along with five quads, have entered the event, which is part of the FIA World Baja Cup, FIM Bajas World Cup, and the FIA Middle East Baja Cup.
In the FIA section, there will be eight cars in the Ultimate category, 12 in the Challenger group, 13 in SSV, and five in the Stock category. Notable competitors include Dennis Krotov in an X-Raid Mini JCW Rally 3.0l, Dania Akeel and Akira Muira in Overdrive Racing Toyota, and Miroslav Zapletal. The South Racing Can-Am Team’s Diego Martinez will be competing for overall Challenger honors.
In the overall FIA World Baja Cup Drivers’ Championship, Spaniard Fernando Alvarez leads in the SSV section in his Can-Am Maverick XRS Turbo RR. Other contenders include Joao Ferreira, Amerigo Ventura, and João Dias. Mohammed Al Balooshi is leading the FIM Bajas World Cup for motorcycles, with competitors from various countries such as Portugal, Australia, Kuwait, and more.
Local drivers Abdullah Al Rabban and Saudi rival Majed Al Thunayyan are leading the Stock class and are registered for the FIA Middle East Baja Cup. In the quad category, Saudi and Emirati riders will be competing against each other. The event is organized by the QMMF, under the leadership of QMMF President Abdulrahman Al Mannai and other key members of the organization.
