Qatar’s national football team has been on a winning streak this year and is looking to extend their success in upcoming matches against Afghanistan and India. Despite already securing a spot in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 and progressing in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers, coach Marquez Lopez is determined to maintain the team’s winning momentum. The team’s exceptional form has earned them a historic 34th position in the FIFA rankings, and they hope to climb higher with victories in their upcoming matches.

Saad Al Sheeb, Qatar’s goalkeeper, has made a triumphant return to the squad after recovering from an injury, adding to the team’s depth and talent. Coach Marquez Lopez has also included several young players in the squad for the upcoming matches, showcasing his commitment to building a balanced team of youth and experience. With star forwards Akram Afif and Almoez Ali being rested and goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham out due to surgery, the young talents will have an opportunity to shine on the international stage.

Qatar’s upcoming matches against Afghanistan and India in the joint qualifiers hold significant importance as they aim to secure their place in the third round of World Cup qualifiers. The team will face Afghanistan in Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, followed by a home match against India at Doha’s Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium. The results of these matches will determine Qatar’s path in the World Cup qualifiers, with a chance to earn direct qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

As Qatar prepares for the crucial matches, coach Marquez Lopez is intensifying the team’s training at Aspire Academy before their departure to Saudi Arabia. The coach’s strategy of blending young talents with experienced players reflects the team’s readiness to face the challenges of the qualifiers. With a strong squad of players like Amir Hassan, Ali Nader, and Abdullah Al Ahrak, Qatar is poised to showcase their dominance on the field and secure victories in the upcoming matches.

The national team’s remarkable journey in the qualifiers highlights their determination to excel on the international stage and make a mark in global football. With a mix of talented young players and seasoned professionals, Qatar is well-equipped to face tough competition and emerge victorious. As they aim to continue their winning streak and climb higher in the FIFA rankings, the team’s commitment and dedication under coach Marquez Lopez’s guidance promise an exciting and successful campaign ahead. Joint qualifiers present an opportunity for Qatar to demonstrate their skills and secure a place in the prestigious FIFA World Cup 2026, solidifying their status as a formidable football nation in the Asian region.
