Mixed results for UAE athletes at Paris Olympics – News

Emirati swimmer Maha Al Shehhi made her Olympic debut at the Paris Olympics in the women’s 200-metre freestyle heats, finishing 28th with a time of 2:17.17. Despite tough competition, she managed to break her previous personal record. In another event, UAE judoka Khorloodoi Bishrelt won her round of 32 match but lost to a German opponent in the round of 16. Narmond Bayan, another member of the UAE judo team, also competed but lost in the round of 32 match.

A 14-member team of athletes from the UAE is representing the country at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Equestrian rider Omar Al Marzouqi, who won a silver medal at the Youth Olympics and Asian Games, is set to compete in show jumping. Safiya Al Sayegh, the first female Emirati cyclist to qualify for the Olympics, will participate in the road race. She is determined to deliver her best performance on the world stage and has been preparing rigorously for the challenge ahead.

The UAE’s national equestrian team, led by Al Marzouqi, will compete with 20 other teams in the show jumping competition. Al Sayegh will take on the 158-km long women’s road race, showcasing her skills and endurance in the prestigious event. She expressed her excitement to compete in the Olympics and hopes to make her country proud with a strong performance. The event will test her abilities against some of the world’s elite female cyclists.

Despite the challenges and tough competition at the Paris Olympics, the athletes from the UAE are determined to represent their country with pride and honor. The Olympic debut of Maha Al Shehhi and the achievements of Khorloodoi Bishrelt and Narmond Bayan demonstrate the talent and dedication of Emirati athletes on the world stage.
