Manchester United co-owners Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glazer made an appearance at Old Trafford, sparking speculation about the future of manager Erik ten Hag. Ratcliffe, who purchased a minority stake in the club in February, has been overseeing significant changes in the football operations of the team. However, when questioned about his support for Ten Hag, Ratcliffe chose not to publicly endorse the manager.

The speculation surrounding Ten Hag’s future comes after a disappointing start to the season for Manchester United. With three defeats in the first seven league games, United finds itself in 14th place in the standings. The team’s return of eight points is the lowest at this stage of a campaign since 1989-90. This poor performance has put the manager under intense scrutiny and raised questions about his ability to lead the team.

Ten Hag, who became the club’s fifth permanent manager since Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, faced similar speculation at the end of last season. Despite leading United to its worst league campaign in 34 years, he managed to keep his job after winning the FA Cup. However, with the recent string of poor results, his position is once again in jeopardy.

The arrival of new CEO Omar Berrada and sporting director Dan Ashworth seemed to signal their support for Ten Hag, but Ratcliffe’s refusal to back the manager has cast doubt on his future at the club. As the co-owner responsible for overseeing the football operations, Ratcliffe’s opinion is crucial in determining the direction of the team. His decision not to publicly support Ten Hag raises concerns about the manager’s future at Manchester United.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Ten Hag, Glazer and Ratcliffe’s presence at Old Trafford for meetings in Manchester and London suggests that significant discussions are taking place behind the scenes. As the co-owners of one of the most prestigious clubs in English football, their decisions will have a significant impact on the future of Manchester United. Whether Ten Hag will continue as manager or face dismissal remains to be seen, but the recent developments indicate that a decision may be imminent.
