School students in Qatar, aged 13-17, had the opportunity to explore various career paths and opportunities in motorsport thanks to a collaboration between Lusail International Circuit (LIC) and F1 Academy. The F1 Academy testing event took place from November 12-14 and featured a program designed to inspire and educate the next generation of motorsport talent. The students participated in activities such as a Pit Lane Walk experience and a karting session, providing them with hands-on exposure to the technical and operational aspects of motorsport.
The collaboration between LIC and F1 Academy aimed to showcase the diverse career opportunities available in the motorsport industry and to inspire young people, especially young women, to consider pursuing careers in this field. The full driver roster of the F1 Academy was present at the event, providing students with valuable insights into professional racing careers and the growing opportunities for women in motorsport. This initiative goes beyond traditional outreach efforts by creating meaningful connections between classroom learning and real-world motorsport experiences.
Pilar Harris, F1 Social Impact Lead, emphasized the importance of showing young people that there is a place for them in the motorsport industry, whether it be in driving, engineering, or team management. The partnership between LIC and F1 Academy is a transformative educational initiative that not only showcases the exciting world of motorsport but also actively invests in the future of the sport and the nation’s youth. This program aligns with LIC’s commitment to fostering local talent and creating meaningful opportunities in the motorsport industry.
The collaborative program will culminate in a Race Week Career Discovery Program where selected students will have the opportunity to gain behind-the-scenes access during the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2024. By opening their doors to Qatar’s young talents, LIC and F1 Academy are paving the way for the next generation of motorsport professionals and investing in the future of the sport. The final race of the season will take place on Saturday, November 30, marking the conclusion of this educational initiative aimed at inspiring and empowering young students in Qatar.
