India’s Harmanpreet Singh and Abhishek Abhishek celebrated a late goal against Argentina in Pool B of the men’s hockey at the Paris Olympics. This was Harmanpreet’s second late goal in a row, as he had previously scored against New Zealand. The goal came in the penultimate minute of the game, leveling the scores after Argentina’s Lucas Martinez had put them ahead. Despite the draw, Harmanpreet expressed disappointment with the finishing of the team and emphasized the need to capitalize on chances in the next match.

Belgium and Australia currently top Pool B, with India in third place with four points and Argentina in fourth with a single point. The top four teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals. In the women’s game, the United States managed to secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Spain, earning their first point of the Games. Spain dominated with 19 shots, but the US team’s defense, led by goalkeeper Kelsey Bing, managed to clear off two goals. US co-captain Ashley Hoffman attributed the clearances to a combination of luck and bravery.

Spain currently leads Pool B with four points, followed by Argentina and Australia. Meanwhile, in the early women’s match, China defeated Japan 5-0 to earn their first points in Pool A after a disappointing loss to Belgium. The Paris Olympics have showcased thrilling games and strong competition in the hockey events. As the tournament progresses, teams are focused on securing victories and advancing to the next stages. Fans can expect more exciting matches and standout performances from the top players in the sport.
