Barcelona have had a strong start to the La Liga season with seven consecutive wins, but manager Hansi Flick believes there is still room for improvement. The team secured a 1-0 victory over Getafe, taking an early lead through Robert Lewandowski and dominating possession with nearly 80% and 16 goal attempts. Despite their dominance, Barcelona missed several opportunities to score more goals, while Getafe almost equalized in the final moments of the game. Barcelona currently lead the league with 21 points, four ahead of Real Madrid in second place.

Flick acknowledged that there are areas where Barcelona can do better, despite their impressive winning streak. He praised the team’s mentality and fighting spirit, particularly against a defensively strong Getafe side. Stand-in goalkeeper Inaki Pena received compliments from Flick, who refused to comment on rumors linking the team to Wojciech Szczesny. With Marc-Andre ter Stegen out due to injury, Pena has taken on the role of number one goalkeeper, with Flick emphasizing the importance of experience in the squad.

Barcelona’s victory over Getafe saw Lewandowski scoring the only goal of the game after a mistake by the opposition’s goalkeeper, David Soria. The team was without several key players due to injuries and resting, but managed to secure the three points with Lewandowski’s close-range strike. Despite numerous chances to score more goals, including missed opportunities by Raphinha, Barcelona almost conceded an equalizer in the dying moments of the game. Getafe’s Borja Mayoral failed to convert a clear chance, sparing Barcelona from dropping points.

Looking ahead, Barcelona faces upcoming matches against Osasuna and Young Boys in the Champions League, aiming to bounce back from their recent loss to Monaco. The team will be seeking to maintain their strong form and extend their winning streak in both domestic and European competitions. With key players returning from injury and rested players rejoining the squad, Barcelona will be looking to continue their winning momentum and solidify their position at the top of the league standings. Flick’s focus on improvement and the team’s determination will be crucial in maintaining their success throughout the season.
