England’s captain Ben Stokes led his team to victory in the third Test against the West Indies at Edgbaston in Birmingham, central England, setting a target of just 82 runs to win. The West Indies were dismissed for 175 in their second innings, with fast bowler Mark Wood taking 5-40 in 14 overs to finish off the tail with a spell of 5-9 in six overs. West Indies opener Mikyle Louis scored his maiden Test fifty with 57, while Kavem Hodge added 55, but the rest of the team struggled with only a few players reaching double figures.

Unfortunately for England, opening batsman Zak Crawley had to leave the match for a scan after a blow to his right index finger while dropping a slip catch during the first session on Sunday. Captain Ben Stokes stepped in to open the batting in the run chase, showcasing his versatility and leadership skills on the field. Despite the injury setback, England had already secured the series with wins in the first two matches, making this third Test a matter of pride and further domination over the West Indies.

The victory at Edgbaston marked England’s third consecutive win in the three-match series, following an innings and 114-run win at Lord’s and a 241-run win at Trent Bridge. The team’s strong performance throughout the series demonstrated their depth and resilience under pressure, with players stepping up when needed. Captain Ben Stokes’ leadership was key to the team’s success, leading by example with both bat and ball, as well as guiding his team to victory with strategic decisions on the field.

The West Indies put up a valiant effort in the third Test, with opener Mikyle Louis and Kavem Hodge showing skills with the bat. However, the lack of support from the rest of the team proved to be their downfall, as only a few players managed to reach double figures in the second innings. England’s bowling attack, led by Mark Wood, proved too strong for the West Indies, as they secured quick wickets to dismiss the tourists for a low total and set up an easy run chase for the home team.

Overall, England’s comprehensive win in the third Test against the West Indies showcased their dominance in the series and their ability to perform under pressure. The team’s all-round performance, with contributions from both batsmen and bowlers, highlighted their depth and skill level. Captain Ben Stokes’ leadership and tactical decisions played a crucial role in guiding the team to victory and maintaining their unbeaten record in the series. The win at Edgbaston was a testament to England’s strength in Test cricket and their ability to compete at the highest level against top teams like the West Indies.
