Mohammad Yahya, the first Emirati to compete in the UFC, will be making his return to the Octagon on August 3rd at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. He will be facing Brazilian Kaue Fernandes in a lightweight battle. Yahya made history last year when he signed with the UFC and made his debut in the UAE capital at UFC 294. With an overall record of 12-4, Yahya has extensive experience fighting in the region, particularly with UAE Warriors. Twelve of his sixteen professional fights have taken place in the UAE, and he will be looking to earn his first win in the UFC’s competitive lightweight division.

On the same night, the event will be headlined by a crucial clash in the bantamweight division between American Cory Sandhagen and undefeated Russian Umar Nurmagomedov. Sandhagen, currently ranked No.2 in the division, has fought on Yas Island twice before and has picked up bonuses on both occasions. Nurmagomedov, ranked No.10 in the division, made his UFC debut in Abu Dhabi and secured a performance of the night bonus. Considered one of the rising stars in the 135lbs class, Nurmagomedov has gone on to win four further fights and will be looking to continue his winning streak against Sandhagen.

Both Yahya and Fernandes will be seeking their first wins inside the Octagon. The 30-year-old Emirati fighter will have a strong backing from the home crowd as the majority of his fights have been in the UAE. On the other hand, the 29-year-old Brazilian will also aim to showcase his skills and secure a victory. The event promises to be an exciting night of fights, with all fighters looking to make their mark in the UFC and climb up the rankings in their respective divisions.

The UFC event in Abu Dhabi will provide an opportunity for fans to witness high-level mixed martial arts action, with fighters from around the world competing on the same card. Yahya’s return to the Octagon will be a highly anticipated moment for Emirati fans, as he aims to showcase his skills and secure a victory against the talented Fernandes. Additionally, Sandhagen and Nurmagomedov’s headline bout will be a must-watch for MMA enthusiasts, as the two fighters face off in a pivotal clash in the bantamweight division.

Overall, the UFC event in Abu Dhabi promises to deliver an action-packed night of fights, with elite fighters from various countries showcasing their skills inside the Octagon. With Yahya making his return to the UFC and Sandhagen and Nurmagomedov headlining the event, fans can expect a thrilling night of mixed martial arts action. As the fighters prepare to step into the Octagon and compete for victory, excitement is building among MMA fans in Abu Dhabi and around the world. Stay tuned for what promises to be a memorable night of fights at the Etihad Arena on August 3rd.
