Emirati athletes shine at Gulf Youth Games – News

The inaugural Gulf Youth Games Emirates concluded with the UAE emerging as the dominant force, securing a total of 296 medals. The UAE’s impressive tally included 96 gold, 103 silver, and 97 bronze medals, placing them at the top of the standings. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman followed closely behind in the medal count.

The UAE’s swimming team and fencing team both excelled on the final day of the Games, adding more medals to their collection. The swimming team’s total tally reached 28 medals, while the fencing team claimed a total of 11 medals. The event, which took place from April 16 to May 2, saw the participation of 3,500 athletes, 300 volunteers, and 100 media professionals.

Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, expressed his delight at the success of the event, emphasizing the importance of nurturing young talent in sports. He highlighted the vision of Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s founding father, who believed in prioritizing the youth for a brighter future. The Games aimed to foster the skills and abilities of young athletes, aligning with the UAE’s commitment to supporting promising generations.

The Gulf Youth Games marked a significant milestone in the region’s sporting landscape, bringing together young athletes from various Gulf countries to showcase their talent and potential.
