The inaugural Captains’ Trophy at Jumeirah Golf Estates was a thrilling event that saw Jayson Hilton and Stuart Carr emerge as the Gross Division champions. The pair secured their victory with a score of two under par gross, 70, including an eagle on the 18th hole. They narrowly edged out Andy Parks and Christopher Wilmot on a countback, who also had a strong performance with three birdies throughout the round.
The event, held over the Fire course, attracted a total of 108 participants who competed in a Pairs Betterball format in both Gross and Net divisions. Hilton and Carr’s impressive performance was not the only highlight of the day, as Martin Stewart and Alfie Waters were crowned Net Division champions with a score of eight under par. Their round included nine net birdies and a net eagle, securing them victory by two shots.
In the prize-giving ceremony, Noel O’Leary, the Captain of Jumeirah Golf Estates and General Manager of deVere Acuma, expressed his gratitude to all participants and sponsors for their support. The event was a great success and O’Leary thanked everyone for making it a memorable day. The handicap allowance for the tournament was 85 per cent of the Course Handicap, with play from the Tournament and Orange Ladies’ Tees for both men and ladies.
Coming in third place on a countback were Richard Aybar and Jonathan Duncan with a score of 71, one under par. The competition was fierce throughout the day, with players showcasing their skills on the challenging Fire course.
