17-year-old Victor Kofod Olsen, hailing from Emirates Golf Club, showcased his exceptional golf skills by shooting a four under par 68 in the second round of the EGF Order of Merit Championship at Al Zorah Golf Club. With a 36-hole total of three under par 141, Olsen leads the Men’s Division of the tournament. Despite starting the day five shots behind round one leader Simon Dunn, Olsen managed to secure the top spot with five birdies and just one bogey in his round.

In a post-round interview, Olsen shared his satisfaction with his performance, highlighting his solid iron play while acknowledging a few missed opportunities on the greens. Looking towards the final round, Olsen expressed his intent to maintain his momentum and focus on playing his own game. Despite his dedication to golf, Olsen is also balancing his studies at GEM’s Wellington School, preparing for mock IB exams while enjoying some downtime by watching the Premier League.

The Men’s Division leaderboard featured noteworthy performances, including a hole-in-one by Jay Mullane on the 15th hole, earning him fourth place on the leaderboard. In the Ladies’ Division, Jamie Camero from The Els Club showcased her skills with an impressive 10-shot improvement from round one, securing a two-shot lead heading into the final round. Additionally, various junior categories are being contested alongside the main event, adding a youthful and competitive dynamic to the tournament.

The EGF Order of Merit Championship encompasses a variety of categories, with points allocated based on the field size. This year marks the inclusion of the championship in the season-long Order of Merits, providing players with added motivation and recognition for their performances. As the players gear up for the final round, the competition is heating up, promising an exciting conclusion to the tournament with talented golfers vying for the top spots in their respective divisions.

With players like Olsen and Camero leading the charge, the tournament at Al Zorah Golf Club is shaping up to be a thrilling showcase of talent and skill. The intricate interplay between golf and academics for young players like Olsen adds a layer of complexity and dedication to their pursuits. As the final round approaches, all eyes are on the leaderboard, eagerly anticipating the crowning of the champions across the various divisions. Stay tuned for more highlights and updates from the EGF Order of Merit Championship as the golfing action unfolds.
