Bahrain comeback to shock Oman and win Gulf Cup

The Arabian Gulf Cup final in Bahrain was a dramatic and exciting affair, with Bahrain coming back from a goal down to beat Oman 2-1 and lift their second Gulf title. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric with over 57,000 fans eagerly anticipating a clash between the two most impressive teams in the tournament. Oman took an early lead through a corner kick, but Bahrain fought back in the second half, with Mohamed Marhoon scoring from the penalty spot and setting up an own goal to secure the victory.

The 26th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup has been a great success, with more than 450,000 fans attending the 15 matches in Kuwait. The tournament showcased top-quality football and provided great entertainment over two weeks. The focus now shifts to the 27th edition, which will be held in Saudi Arabia in September 2026. Kuwait, the host of this year’s tournament, had striker Mohammad Dahan named as the Player-of-the-Tournament, receiving a $10,000 prize as consolation for their excellent hosting.

However, Bahrain’s resilience and determination turned the game around, showcasing their skill and determination to come out on top. Both teams had shown their class throughout the tournament by finishing at the top of their respective groups. Oman’s early lead seemed to set the stage for a victory, but Bahrain’s fighting spirit shone through as they mounted a comeback in the second half.
