The Vice Chairman of the Saudi Pro League (SPL) Board, Saad Allazeez, recently discussed the factors that influence clubs’ interest in player signings. He emphasized that clubs themselves chose which players to sign, and the selection process was not biased towards any particular club. Allazeez mentioned that budget allocations were made to all 18 clubs in the Professional League, and they were free to negotiate with players within their allocated budgets. This resulted in the recruitment of 97 players, including 10 from the top 100 players in the world. The value of the Saudi league has tripled, and there are aspirations to be among the top 10 leagues globally.

Allazeez also addressed concerns about unequal distribution of resources, stating that financial situations, debts, and legal issues of clubs were factors that determined support distribution. He clarified that the program merely granted approvals for negotiations and did not influence contracts. The disparity in clubs’ financial situations and existing contracts led to varying levels of support among the teams, with some unable to register players due to financial constraints. However, efforts were made to ensure equality among the clubs, regardless of their positions in the league or participation in the AFC Champions League.

Regarding contract terminations or loaning players to other league clubs, Allazeez highlighted that such decisions were based on technical factors. While not preferred, if an opportunity arose for a player to move to another club, it would be considered based on technical and financial aspects. Allazeez made it clear that his opinions did not influence the program’s operation, which involved international experiences and competencies. He also denied claims of leading negotiations, but confirmed that the program facilitated clubs in their negotiations with some players.

In conclusion, Saad Allazeez’s statements shed light on the player recruitment process in the Saudi Pro League and the efforts made to ensure fairness and equality among the clubs. The program aims to elevate the league’s status on the global stage by recruiting top players and increasing its value. While challenges such as financial constraints and legal issues may impact clubs’ ability to sign players, the program strives to support all clubs equally. The focus remains on enhancing the league’s competitiveness and providing opportunities for players to excel, ultimately benefiting the growth and development of football in Saudi Arabia.
