In the women’s draw, Chinese wildcard Zhang Shuai continued her fairytale run at the tournament, securing her place in the last 16 with a convincing win over Greet Minnen. The 35-year-old veteran, who had not won a singles match in over 600 days prior to the event, showcased her resilience and skill on the hard courts of Beijing. Zhang’s inspiring journey has captivated fans and created a sense of hometown pride, as she prepares to face Poland’s Magdalena Frech in the next round.

US Open runner-up Jessica Pegula faced a tough challenge against Veronika Kudermetova but managed to come out on top, setting up a highly anticipated match against Spain’s Paula Badosa. With the top women’s seed Aryna Sabalenka leading the pack in Beijing, the competition is heating up as players like Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek showcase their skills on the courts. Despite Swiatek’s absence due to personal reasons, the China Open continues to deliver thrilling matches and unexpected outcomes for tennis fans around the world.
