Al Shahania SC, a football club based in Doha, Qatar, recently made a significant addition to their squad by signing Dutch midfielder Pelle van Amersfoort. The 28-year-old player, who previously played for Dutch top-tier club SC Heerenveen, is expected to play a key role in the team’s upcoming season. The club’s Board of Directors, led by Manahi Al Shammari, expressed their excitement about adding van Amersfoort to the team in order to strengthen their ranks for the Ooredoo Star League.

Van Amersfoort has had successful stints at various clubs, including SC Heerenveen, Cracovia, and Almere City. He began his professional journey at SC Heerenveen’s youth academy and eventually made his debut for the club in 2014. During his time at Heerenveen, van Amersfoort made 159 appearances and scored 28 goals for the team. He later moved to Cracovia in Poland, where he played a significant role in the club’s title-winning campaigns in the Polish Cup and the Polish Super Cup.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches tall, van Amersfoort’s arrival at Al Shahania comes as the club continues to bolster their squad. The team recently announced contracts with Lotfi Madjer and Nayef Hamid on loan for one season. As part of their pre-season preparations, Al Shahania players have left for a closed training camp in Izmir, Turkey, where they will participate in three friendly matches before returning to Doha on July 28. Meanwhile, other teams in the league, including Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, and Qatar SC, have also begun their pre-season training in locations such as Malaga, Spain, and the Netherlands.

In addition to strengthening their squad with new signings, Al Shahania’s focus on pre-season training highlights the team’s commitment to performing well in the upcoming season. The club’s decision to sign van Amersfoort, a talented midfielder with experience playing at a high level, reflects their ambition to compete in the Ooredoo Star League. With the support of the Board of Directors and the coaching staff, van Amersfoort is poised to make a significant impact on the team’s performance and help them achieve their goals for the season.

As part of their pre-season preparations, Al Shahania players will have the opportunity to train together and build team chemistry during their time in Izmir. The friendly matches scheduled for the team will also serve as valuable opportunities for players to showcase their skills and form partnerships on the field. With the guidance of their coaching staff, including head coach Manahi Al Shammari, the players will work together to implement strategies and tactics that will help them succeed in the upcoming season.

Overall, Al Shahania SC’s recent signings and pre-season training activities demonstrate the club’s commitment to success in the Ooredoo Star League. By adding talented players like Pelle van Amersfoort to their squad and investing in thorough preparations for the season ahead, the team is positioning itself for a competitive and impactful performance. With the support of their loyal fans and the dedication of their players and coaching staff, Al Shahania is poised to make a strong impression in the upcoming season and compete at the highest level in Qatar’s football league.
