The UEFA Euro 2024 final football match between Spain and England took place at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on July 14, 2024. Spain emerged as the champions after a hard-fought victory over England. Despite the disappointment of several star players failing to shine, Spain, led by Rodri and Lamine Yamal, proved to be the best team in the tournament. Kylian Mbappe, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Jude Bellingham were among the players who had high hopes but did not perform at their best.

Spain’s victory in Euro 2024 was well-deserved, as they won all seven of their matches, defeating strong teams like Italy, France, and England along the way. Their style of play, characterized by control in midfield and flair on the wings, made them stand out as the best team in the competition. Their success builds on their previous victory in the Nations League and raises hopes for a period of dominance in European football.

The average number of goals scored per match in Euro 2024 was lower compared to previous tournaments, indicating that the quality of football may have been affected by the demands on players. With a congested football calendar that includes multiple competitions and an increased number of games, players like Bellingham and Mbappe struggled to hit peak form. The global players’ union FIFPro has raised concerns about the impact of an overloaded schedule on player welfare.

Despite the concerns about the quantity of games impacting the quality of football, Spain’s performance in Euro 2024 was a testament to their brilliance. The team’s ability to defeat top European nations and play attractive football showcased their quality and potential for future success. As football competitions continue to expand and generate more revenue, the focus on player welfare and maintaining high standards of play remains a key concern for the footballing community.

Overall, Euro 2024 was a tournament that highlighted the challenges and opportunities facing modern football. Spain’s victory, along with the disappointments of individual star players, serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between quantity and quality in football. As the sport continues to evolve and adapt to changing demands, finding the right balance between player welfare and competitive excellence will be crucial for sustaining football’s popularity and success in the future.
