The search for the next England manager has begun following Gareth Southgate’s resignation after England’s loss in the European Championship final. The Football Association is currently in the process of appointing a new manager to lead the team as they prepare for the upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign. The next manager will be tasked with the responsibility of leading England to their first major title since the 1966 World Cup.

Many names have been proposed as potential candidates for the role, with the possibility of another English manager taking the helm. Names such as Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, and Lee Carsley have been mentioned as immediate frontrunners. Howe and Potter, both experienced in the Premier League, offer different approaches to the role. Potter is available immediately, while Howe may need to take a pay cut if he were to be appointed.

Former England defender Gary Neville believes that the next manager should be English, emphasizing the importance of developing English coaches. Names like Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, though stellar players for England, are seen as less likely prospects for the role. Bookmakers have added some international names to the mix, including Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, and Juergen Klopp, adding a touch of fantasy to the speculation.

In addition to the mentioned names, other high-profile managers like Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola have been floating around as potential candidates for the England manager position. Guardiola’s contract with Manchester City will expire next year, making him a possible option for the role. However, it remains to be seen who the Football Association will ultimately decide on to lead the England national team moving forward.

The next manager will have the weight of expectation and the burden of history on their shoulders, as England continues to strive for a major title. The ability to handle intense criticism, develop team spirit, and maintain a winning culture will be crucial qualities for the new manager. The decision on the next England manager is highly anticipated, with fans and experts eagerly awaiting the announcement of who will lead the national team in the future.
