SME Authority Hosts Third Health Sector Dialogue Session

The Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED) recently hosted a dialogue session focused on the health sector in Muscat. The main objective of ASMED is to enhance the business environment for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and contribute to the development of supportive policies. The session, titled “Enhancing SME Investment in the Health Sector,” featured a discussion on the future of investment in the health sector. According to statistics presented during the session, there were 2,363 SMEs registered in the health sector as of October 2024, including 1,908 microenterprises, 398 thousand SMEs, and 57 medium-sized enterprises.

The dialogue session was attended by key stakeholders in the health sector, including Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Health Minister, Halima Rashid Al Zari (Chairperson of ASMED), Dr. Fatima Mohammed al Ajmi (Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Financial Affairs), Khalid bin Salim Al Ghamri (Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Labour), and Eng. Badr Salim Al Maamari (Secretary General of the Tender Board). The session also welcomed owners of small and medium enterprises operating in the health sector and related activities. This diverse group of participants came together to discuss ways to improve the business environment for SMEs in the health sector and to explore promising opportunities for growth and innovation.

The dialogue session focused on a range of issues related to enhancing SME investment in the health sector, including the need for more supportive policies and incentives to encourage entrepreneurs to present innovative ideas. ASMED aims to create a more attractive business environment for SMEs by promoting policies that support growth and development in key sectors. By fostering dialogue and collaboration between stakeholders in the health sector, ASMED seeks to identify opportunities for investment and innovation that will drive economic growth and development in Oman.
