The Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Quran Competition organizing committee in Doha has made significant adjustments to the competition structure to encourage the participation of both citizens and residents. Chairman Malallah Abdulrahman Al Jaber announced that men and women will be separated, with female contestants having their own testing committees overseen by expert female juries. This change aims to motivate more women who have memorized the Holy Quran to take part in the event. Additionally, awards for the top five winners in each category have been equalized for both men and women, with increased rewards for proficient memorizers who do not place in the top five.

The competition will cover various aspects of the Holy Quran, with online testing to ensure a fair and balanced competition for all participants. Both male and female contestants from multiple nationalities will compete in different categories, creating a diverse and competitive Quranic school. Registration for the recitation category, targeted towards secondary school students of all genders, will open in early September 2024, with testing to follow in October. The competition aims to strengthen students’ understanding of the Quran and promote moral values in the community, cultivating a generation that upholds Islamic principles.

The Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Quran Competition is expanding globally, supporting Quran contests in different countries. In 2024, financial support worth QR1.6 million was provided to international competitions in Russia, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The competition offers a total of QR3 million in awards for winners across all categories, emphasizing the importance of promoting Quranic knowledge and cultural ties on an international scale. This demonstrates the State of Qatar’s commitment to spreading the values of tolerance and mercy derived from the Noble Quran.

The competition serves as a platform for participants to showcase their Quranic memorization skills and deepen their understanding of the Holy Quran’s teachings. By engaging with diverse nationalities and fostering cultural exchange, the competition embodies the values of social responsibility and Quranic education. The event aims to create a community of knowledgeable and morally upright individuals who can contribute to the advancement of society and uphold the values of Islam. Through its efforts, the competition seeks to inspire a deeper connection to the teachings of the Quran and promote a message of harmony and understanding among different nations.

The organizing committee’s decision to provide equal opportunities for male and female participants reflects a commitment to gender equality and inclusivity in the competition. By creating separate testing committees for women and ensuring fair representation across all categories, the competition aims to provide a level playing field for all contestants. This approach not only encourages more women to participate but also fosters a sense of fairness and equity in the competition process. Ultimately, the Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani Noble Quran Competition is dedicated to promoting the values and teachings of the Holy Quran on a global scale, while also championing diversity, inclusivity, and excellence in Quranic memorization and recitation.
