Semicon India 2024: Top Semiconductor CEOs Praise India and PM Modi’s Leadership

SEMICON India 2024 received accolades from key electronics industry stakeholders for being an ‘unprecedented’ and ‘exponential’ event. The CEO of SEMI, Ajit Manocha, praised the scale of the event which brought together over 100 CEOs and CXOs from around the world representing the electronic supply chain for semiconductors. SEMI serves the needs of the industry and manufacturing supply chains for microelectronics, display, and photovoltaic industries. Manocha expressed optimism about the industry’s commitment to making India a trusted partner in creating a semiconductor hub for the benefit of the country, world, industry, and humanity.

The three-day SEMICON India 2024 conference aims to showcase India’s semiconductor strategy and policy to position the country as a global hub for semiconductors. President and CEO of Tata Electronics, Randhir Thakur, commended the Prime Minister’s vision for bringing the semiconductor industry to Indian shores. He highlighted the approval and establishment of India’s first commercial fab in Dholera and the first Indigenous OSAT factory in Jagiroad, Assam in record time. Thakur credited the government’s efforts for bringing together various ecosystems under one roof at SEMICON 2024 and emphasized the semiconductor industry’s role in job creation and supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

CEO of NXP Semiconductors, Kurt Sievers, expressed excitement to be part of SEMICON 2024 and described the event as the beginning of collaboration. He emphasized the importance of ambition, trust, and collaboration for success and highlighted NXP’s increased R&D investments above a billion dollars. CEO of Renesas, Hidetoshi Shibata, congratulated the Prime Minister for the success of SEMICON India 2024 and mentioned the establishment of one of India’s first assembly and test facilities in Gujarat. He highlighted plans to expand activities and operational presence in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Noida, along with doubling the head-count in India to support advanced semiconductor design activities for the global market.

CEO of IMEC, Luc Van Den Hove, lauded the Prime Minister’s commitment to setting up a longer-term R&D strategy for the industry. He emphasized the importance of a reliable supply chain and expressed confidence in India as a trusted partner due to being the world’s largest democracy. The event at SEMICON India 2024 highlighted collaborations, innovations, and growth opportunities in the semiconductor industry and showcased India’s potential to emerge as a global hub for semiconductors. The participation of industry leaders and stakeholders reflects a collective commitment to driving progress and leveraging India’s strengths in technology and innovation for the benefit of the country and the global community.
