The Directorate General of Khoula Hospital, under the Ministry of Health, recently organised the first Annual Scientific Research Day. This event was held under the auspices of Dr. Saif bin Abdullah Al Haddabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation for Scientific Research and Innovation. The gathering brought together healthcare professionals to showcase distinguished research efforts across various medical, nursing, and administrative specialties.

## Promoting a Culture of Innovation

The primary objective of the First Annual Scientific Research Day was to promote a culture of scientific research and innovation among healthcare staff at Khoula Hospital. By doing so, the event aimed to contribute to the development of institutional performance and the improvement of the quality of health services provided. This initiative aligns with the broader goals of enhancing healthcare delivery and fostering a research-oriented environment within the institution.

### Fostering Research Excellence

During the event, participants presented their research findings and projects, offering insights into the latest developments in their respective fields. The presentations covered a range of topics, highlighting the diverse areas of focus within the healthcare sector. By sharing their research, participants not only showcased their expertise but also facilitated the exchange of knowledge and ideas among attendees.

## A Showcase of Research and Innovation

The event concluded with a tour of an accompanying exhibition, where researchers displayed their scientific studies and projects. This exhibition provided a platform for in-depth discussions about the research, allowing attendees to engage with the presenters and gain a deeper understanding of the key findings. The exhibition was an integral part of the event, as it demonstrated Khoula Hospital’s commitment to establishing a culture of research and innovation in the health field.

### Aligning with Oman Vision 2040

The organisation of the Annual Scientific Research Day is a practical implementation of one of the core pillars of “Oman Vision 2040”, which emphasises the development of a “Creative Human and Productive Society”. This vision underscores the importance of scientific research as a tool for institutional development and the creation of a knowledge-based society founded on evidence and innovation. By hosting this event, Khoula Hospital is contributing to the realisation of this vision, reinforcing the role of research in driving progress and improvement in the healthcare sector.

## Enhancing Healthcare Through Research

The event highlighted the significance of research in enhancing healthcare services. By encouraging healthcare professionals to engage in research, Khoula Hospital is fostering an environment that values evidence-based practice and innovation. This approach is crucial for addressing the evolving needs of the healthcare sector and for delivering high-quality services that meet the expectations of patients and the broader community.

In conclusion, the first Annual Scientific Research Day at Khoula Hospital was a significant step towards promoting a culture of research and innovation within the healthcare sector. By providing a platform for healthcare professionals to share their research and engage with their peers, the event contributed to the development of institutional performance and the improvement of healthcare services. As Oman continues to work towards its vision for the future, events like this play a vital role in driving progress and ensuring that the healthcare sector remains at the forefront of innovation and excellence. Furthermore, this initiative demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to aligning with national goals and enhancing the overall quality of healthcare delivery. As such, it serves as a model for other healthcare institutions to follow, promoting a culture of research and innovation that is essential for achieving excellence in healthcare.
