The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation in Muscat has announced that the scholarships being offered for the academic year 2024/2025 will cover all fields of knowledge. The programmes are designed to meet student expectations and respond to the actual needs of development sectors. Hamad Khalfan Al Harthy, Assistant Director General for Scholarship Affairs, stated that the scholarships provide flexibility for students to choose their desired specializations, educational institutions, and countries of study. There are two packages available: STEM for science stream students and ESAM for arts stream students. It is important to note that neither package offers programmes that lead to degrees beyond the Bachelor’s level, and aspirants are advised to consult the HEAC Guide for additional information.

In collaboration with the “Medical City for Military and Security Services”, the Ministry has released 14 on-the-job training and employment-linked programmes in the fields of human medicine, dentistry, specialized nursing, and associated medical specialties. Successful students will have the opportunity to further their studies in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, and the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Ministry is focusing on specializations that align with the Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data science, and cyber forensics. Al Harthy highlighted that private higher education institutions also provide scholarships equivalent to 10 percent of seats, with companies like Petroleum Development Oman and OMIFCO offering scholarships for students in concession areas and those belonging to limited income families in specific governorates.
