Saudi Point of Sale (POS) transactions total 204 million, worth over SR13 billion in a week

The Saudi Central Bank’s weekly bulletin for points of sale revealed that the total number of POS operations in Saudi Arabia surpassed 204 million with a value of over SR13 billion during the last week. The bulletin highlighted various sectors where POS operations were carried out, including clothing, construction, education, electronics, gas stations, health, furniture, hotels, public utilities, jewelry, entertainment, restaurants, food and beverages, communications, transportation, and other services. The report also provided insights into the POS transactions in different cities across the Kingdom.

In terms of the breakdown of POS operations by sectors, the bulletin indicated that clothing and shoes accounted for 7,338,000 operations with a value of SR931,595,000. Operations in construction and building materials stood at 1,606,000 with a value of SR332,513,000, while operations in education reached 232,000 with a value of SR1,011,702,000. The report also highlighted the number of operations in various other sectors such as electronic and electrical devices, gas stations, health, furniture, hotels, public utilities, jewelry, entertainment, restaurants, cafes, food and beverages, communications, transportation, and other goods and services.

At the city level, the bulletin provided a breakdown of POS operations in different cities across the Kingdom. The data revealed that Riyadh had the highest number of weekly POS operations at 62,807,000, with a value of SR4,626,070,000. Makkah accounted for 8,428,000 POS operations worth SR544,360,000, while Madinah had 8,509,000 POS operations totaling SR535,487,000. Other cities such as Tabuk, Hail, Abha, Buraidah, Al-Khobar, Dammam, Jeddah, and other cities also had significant POS transactions during the period covered in the bulletin.
