Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah and Member of Supreme Council, recently announced a series of new projects in Kalba. These projects include the ‘Kalba Gate’ project, which will feature a new museum showcasing heritage aspects such as customs, traditions, and folk songs, as well as a park surrounding the flood-devastated Khor Kalba Fort. In addition to these projects, Sheikh Dr Sultan also revealed plans for an environmental, archaeological, and heritage tourism programme for Kalba, leveraging the city’s existing qualities.

The ‘Kalba Gate’ project is currently under construction and will include a pathway that connects the hanging gardens with Al Hefaiyah Lake. This pathway will be surrounded by a railing to ensure the safety of guests as they enjoy views of the hanging gardens, the lake, and the city of Kalba. Furthermore, a moon-shaped project is set to be built about 850 meters above sea level on Jebel Deem, Ghamam, offering breathtaking views of the mountains, valley, and coast. The two-story project will include a restaurant, an open café, a reading room, viewing platforms, a multipurpose hall, and a prayer room.

To enhance the natural beauty of the area, more than 4,500 trees, including olive, pomegranate, grape, and apple trees, have been planted in the mountains. Additionally, plans are in place to build a football stadium for Kalba Club at 850 feet above sea level to reduce humidity affecting the players. The stadium is expected to offer players a more comfortable playing environment with a temperature difference of about 10 degrees Celsius. The ruler of Sharjah also established the Sharjah Communication Technologies Free Zone in Kalba to cater to entrepreneurs and companies in the industry by providing connectivity to regional and international partners, as well as training and growth opportunities.

With its ideal location and modern facilities, the Sharjah Communication Technologies Free Zone aims to attract investment in Artificial Intelligence, communication technologies, and data centers. This initiative is part of the emirate’s efforts to support the growth of local expertise in the technology sector. The projects announced by Sheikh Dr Sultan in Kalba are meant to enhance the city’s cultural heritage, environmental preservation, and tourism offerings, making it a more attractive destination for visitors and residents alike. The combination of historic preservation, natural beauty, and modern amenities is expected to elevate Kalba’s status as a unique and desirable location for investment and leisure activities.
