His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman has recently ratified an agreement with the government of Bulgaria regarding the mutual exemption of short-stay visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, special, and service passports. The agreement was signed in New York on 23 September 2024 and has now been officially approved through Royal Decree No. (57/2024).

The official decree ratifies the agreement as per the attached version, with the aim of facilitating smoother travel between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Bulgaria for individuals holding diplomatic, special, or service passports. This move is expected to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries and promote collaborations across various sectors.

The publication of this decree in the Official Gazette marks the formal enforcement of the agreement, which will take effect immediately. This means that citizens holding diplomatic, special, or service passports from Oman and Bulgaria will no longer be required to obtain short-stay visas when traveling between the two nations, simplifying the process and promoting stronger ties between the two countries.

The mutual exemption of short-stay visa requirements is a significant development in enhancing diplomatic relations between Oman and Bulgaria. It signifies a commitment to fostering greater cooperation and communication between the governments and citizens of both countries, paving the way for increased collaboration in areas such as trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

By streamlining the visa process for diplomatic, special, and service passport holders, Oman and Bulgaria are not only facilitating ease of travel but also encouraging greater interaction between individuals from both nations. This agreement is a testament to the shared commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.

Overall, the ratification of the agreement between Oman and Bulgaria on the exemption of short-stay visa requirements for specific passport holders highlights a significant step towards strengthening diplomatic ties and promoting closer collaboration between the two countries. It is expected to have a positive impact on various aspects of bilateral relations, facilitating increased interaction and cooperation for the benefit of both nations and their citizens.
