In a thrilling match that saw Cristiano Ronaldo score, Portugal defeated Poland 3-1 in the UEFA Nations League in Warsaw on October 12, 2024. Bernardo Silva opened the scoring for Portugal in the 26th minute, with Ronaldo extending their lead after Rafael Leao’s shot hit the post. Piotr Zielinski pulled one back for Poland, but an own goal from Jan Bednarek sealed the victory for Portugal, who remain the only team in League A with a 100 percent record. With a maximum nine points in Group A1, they could secure a place in the quarter-finals in the upcoming week.

With an impressive goal from Martin Zubimendi, Spain edged past Denmark 1-0 in Murcia. Despite missing key players due to injuries, Spain managed to secure the victory with Zubimendi’s low drive finding the back of the net. This win propelled Spain to seven points, one above Denmark, with Serbia picking up their first win by beating Switzerland 2-0 in Leskovac. The Serbian team capitalized on a own goal and a goal from Aleksandar Mitrovic, while goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic saved a penalty from Swiss striker Breel Embolo.

In Group C3, both games ended in goalless draws as Bulgaria were held at home by Luxembourg and Northern Ireland drew against Belarus on neutral ground in Hungary. In other matches, Romania secured a comfortable 3-0 win away to Cyprus in Group C2, while Kosovo beat Lithuania 2-1. The competition is fierce and the stakes are high as teams battle it out for a spot in the knockout stages of the UEFA Nations League.

Portugal coach Roberto Martinez praised his team’s performance against Poland, highlighting the hard work and preparation that went into the game. He emphasized the importance of teamwork in securing the victory and maintaining their perfect record in the competition. With Cristiano Ronaldo in top form, Portugal look like a strong contender in the Nations League, showcasing their dominance on the international stage.

Spain’s victory over Denmark was hard-fought, with Martin Zubimendi’s goal proving to be the difference between the two teams. Despite missing several key players, Spain managed to secure the win and move to the top of their group. The Spanish team continues to show their strength and resilience, with coach Luis de la Fuente praising Zubimendi for his crucial goal in such a close game.

With the competition heating up in the UEFA Nations League, teams are giving it their all to secure a spot in the knockout stages. The unpredictable nature of the matches keeps fans on the edge of their seats, with every goal and every win crucial for the teams’ chances of progressing further. As the group stage comes to a close, the battle for supremacy intensifies, with teams determined to make their mark in the prestigious tournament.
