The government of Nigeria is facing mounting pressure to release detained Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, as highlighted by a new statement from Binance CEO Richard Teng. In a blog post, Teng expressed concern over Gambaryan’s deteriorating health after six months in detainment. The crypto exchange compliance chief is currently unable to walk due to a herniated disc and is in severe pain ahead of his September 2 trial on money laundering charges. Despite the upcoming court case, Gambaryan has allegedly been denied access to legal counsel and his U.S. consulate representative. Teng has called on the Nigerian government to allow Gambaryan to return home for urgent medical care and reunite with his family.

Gambaryan was detained in Nigeria in late February alongside fellow Binance employee Nadeem Anjarwalla, reportedly for violating the country’s laws. The duo had been in the country for crypto policy talks with government officials and had been promised safe passage. However, following their arrest, Gambaryan’s health rapidly deteriorated. In June, U.S. lawmakers French Hill and Cynthia Houlahan visited Gambaryan in prison, where they found him suffering from Malaria and double pneumonia. Teng has called on the American government to intervene and bring Gambaryan home for proper treatment, emphasizing the need to reunite him with his family and loved ones.

The Nigerian government has reportedly withheld releasing Gambaryan’s medical records for several months despite a court order to do so. Teng expressed deep concern over the physical and mental impact this ordeal is having on Gambaryan and appealed for his release on humanitarian grounds. The Binance CEO emphasized the need for Gambaryan to seek appropriate medical treatment in the U.S. and recover from his current health conditions. As the September 2 trial approaches, there is uncertainty surrounding whether Gambaryan will be granted release and allowed to return home to his family.

Teng’s statement has raised awareness about Gambaryan’s situation and garnered support from the crypto community. Many are calling for justice for the unjustly detained Binance executive and urging the Nigerian government to prioritize his health and well-being. The ongoing legal battle and health concerns facing Gambaryan have prompted discussions on the treatment of crypto employees abroad and the need for diplomatic intervention in such cases. As the situation unfolds, pressure continues to mount on the Nigerian government to address Gambaryan’s deteriorating health and ensure his rights are upheld during the legal proceedings.

The plight of Tigran Gambaryan serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by individuals in the crypto industry, especially when operating in foreign countries with differing regulations and legal systems. The case has sparked debates on the importance of protecting the rights and well-being of crypto professionals, regardless of their nationality or workplace. As Gambaryan’s trial date approaches, the crypto community remains vigilant in advocating for his release and calling for justice in his case. The global attention on his situation underscores the need for legal and humanitarian considerations to be taken into account when dealing with similar cases in the future.

In conclusion, the case of Tigran Gambaryan highlights the complexities and challenges faced by crypto professionals operating in foreign jurisdictions. The ongoing legal battle and health concerns facing Gambaryan underscore the need for diplomatic intervention and humanitarian considerations in such cases. As the September 2 trial approaches, pressure continues to mount on the Nigerian government to release Gambaryan on humanitarian grounds and ensure his well-being is prioritized. The support and advocacy from the crypto community demonstrate a united front in seeking justice for Gambaryan and highlighting the importance of upholding the rights of individuals in the industry.
