WhatsApp has recently launched its new Events feature for group chats, expanding beyond its initial release in Communities. This feature is now available in regular group chats on the platform, with reports indicating its presence in WhatsApp for Android’s beta version 2.24.14.9. Users can access the Events icon through the paperclip menu in group chats, allowing them to create and manage events directly within the chat group. Group members can view and respond to event invitations, while only the event creator can modify event details. Importantly, all group events are protected by end-to-end encryption, ensuring user privacy and security.

While WhatsApp has not provided a specific timeline for the global rollout of the Events feature, users eager to access this functionality can join the beta program for early access. In addition to the Events feature, WhatsApp has introduced several other updates to its platform. One significant change is the increase in participant limits for group video calls, now allowing up to 32 users per call. This enhancement makes it easier for larger groups to connect virtually, catering to the growing demand for remote communication tools.

The platform has also introduced new features powered by Meta AI, aiming to enhance the user experience for individuals and businesses. These AI tools include expanded AI chat functions available in a dozen countries, enabling users to interact with AI chatbots and create custom AI stickers. Additionally, WhatsApp has launched the Meta Verified program for businesses, designed to showcase their legitimacy and build trust with customers. This initiative highlights the platform’s commitment to supporting businesses and providing them with tools to enhance their presence on WhatsApp.

With these updates, WhatsApp users can expect a more engaging and seamless communication experience, with features like Events, larger group video calls, and AI-powered tools contributing to a more dynamic platform. As WhatsApp continues to evolve and introduce new functionalities, users can look forward to further enhancements that cater to their diverse needs. Whether it’s connecting with friends and family or conducting business transactions, WhatsApp remains a versatile and innovative messaging platform that strives to improve user experience continuously.
