Recipients of the King Hussein Cancer Research Award honoured

The prestigious King Hussein Cancer Research Award celebrates the achievements of Arab scientists and researchers who have excelled in the field of cancer research. The award ceremony, which was attended by Prince Talal bin Muhammad and Princess Ghida Talal, honored thirteen outstanding medical scientists from around the world for their influential contributions to cancer research. The goal of the award is to promote Arab scientific initiatives and reduce dependency on Western research, with a focus on showcasing the perseverance, creativity, and innovation of Arab researchers in the fight against cancer.

The 2024 winners of the King Hussein Cancer Research Award included Lifetime Achievement Awardees Prof. Mohamad Mohty from France and Prof. Randah Hamadeh from Bahrain. Young Investigator Awardees Dr. Bishoy Faltas from the US and Dr. Mohammad Abufaraj from Jordan, as well as Promising Researcher Grantees Dr. Ola Sabet from Egypt and Dr. Adhari AlZaabi from Oman were also recognized for their exceptional work in cancer research. The 2023 winners included renowned medical professionals such as Dr. Toni Choueiri from the US and Prof. Ali Shamseddine from Lebanon, as well as up-and-coming researchers like Prof. Hatem Azim from Mexico and Dr. Yacoub Yousef from Jordan.

The Award Ceremony was a momentous occasion that brought together the King Hussein Cancer Research Award’s Board of Directors, comprised of esteemed doctors, researchers, and oncologists from around the world. The event also welcomed media figures, partners, and sponsors who support the important work being done in the field of cancer research. Additionally, the KHCC’s Hospital Based Health Technology Assessment Program was recognized for its excellence in academia, further highlighting the impact and significance of the King Hussein Cancer Research Award in advancing cancer research in the Arab world.

The King Hussein Cancer Research Award is a testament to the dedication and commitment of Arab scientists and researchers who are making significant strides in the fight against cancer. By celebrating the achievements of these talented individuals, the award not only honors their hard work and innovation but also inspires future generations to pursue careers in cancer research.
