Real Madrid, the Spanish league, and the local government have all condemned racist insults directed at Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal during the recent “clasico” match. The incident occurred after Yamal scored Barcelona’s third goal in a 4-0 victory over Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Videos on social media showed fans yelling insults at Yamal and other Barcelona players, leading to a strong reaction from authorities.

Real Madrid has opened an investigation to identify and locate those responsible for the racist insults towards Yamal. The league has also announced plans to formally denounce the intolerable behavior and gestures directed at Barcelona players. The Spanish government’s commission dedicated to fighting violence, racism, and hate crimes in sport will meet to discuss the incident at the Bernabeu.

The Spanish government emphasized the importance of eradicating racism and hatred from sport, stating that there is no place for such behavior in soccer or any sporting event. Real Madrid expressed regret over the insults directed at Yamal and stressed its condemnation of racism, xenophobia, and violence in football. The club has a history of denouncing racist acts, including those aimed at its forward Vinícius Júnior.

The victory for Barcelona in the “clasico” match saw the team rise six points ahead of Madrid in the league standings after 11 matches. The incident involving racist insults has sparked outrage and calls for action to address such behavior in football. The league remains committed to ensuring that stadiums are free from expressions of violence, racism, hate, and intolerance.

In a statement, Real Madrid emphasized the importance of condemning racist acts and promoting a safe and inclusive environment in football. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of racism in sport and the need for continued efforts to combat discrimination. Authorities are working to identify and take action against those responsible for the racist insults directed at Barcelona’s players during the match.
