Marcus Rashford, the English striker for Manchester United, was left out of England’s provisional squad for Euro 2024. Other notable names missing from the squad include Jordan Henderson and Reece James. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton earned his first call up after a strong end to the Premier League season. The squad also includes uncapped players such as Jarrad Branthwaite, Jarell Quansah, and Curtis Jones, as Southgate faces defensive challenges. England is set to face Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland before the tournament in Germany.

With a wealth of attacking options available, Marcus Rashford misses out on a major tournament for the first time since 2014. Southgate cited better performances from other players in Rashford’s position as the reason for his exclusion. Henderson’s injury and move to Ajax also played a factor in his exclusion, despite efforts to return to form. Jadon Sancho, Raheem Sterling, and Kalvin Phillips were also left out, while Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, and Bukayo Saka are part of the talented squad supporting Harry Kane.

England, under Southgate, is looking to win a major tournament for the first time in 58 years. The team reached the Euro 2020 final, as well as the semi-finals and quarter-finals of the past two World Cups, showing promise. Southgate believes in the team’s ability to win and acknowledges the hard work required to achieve that goal. The squad includes a mix of experienced players and rising talents who have proven themselves in domestic competitions.

The squad for Euro 2024 features goalkeepers Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale, Dean Henderson, and James Trafford. Defenders include Kyle Walker, John Stones, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, and others. Midfielders Declan Rice, Kobbie Mainoo, and Adam Wharton will support the team, along with forwards such as Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, and Jude Bellingham. The squad is a mix of established stars and exciting young players, offering a blend of experience and potential.

England’s journey in the tournament begins with a match against Serbia, followed by fixtures against Denmark and Slovenia in Group C. Despite past disappointments, Southgate remains optimistic about the team’s chances of success. The players are aware of the challenges ahead and understand the need to focus on each game individually. With the support of a passionate fan base, England will be aiming to make a mark in Euro 2024 and bring home the trophy.
