Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL as they were knocked out of the tournament. Rajasthan chased down Bengaluru’s total of 172-8 with six balls to spare in the do-or-die playoff match at the world’s biggest cricket stadium. With this win, Rajasthan secured their spot in the final playoffs against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday to decide Kolkata Knight Riders’ opponent in the final on May 26.

Kolkata Knight Riders made it to their fourth IPL final after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first playoff match. Rajasthan Royals, who won the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008 under Shane Warne, came back strong after a series of losses. On the other hand, Bengaluru had a dream run in the tournament, winning six matches in a row to reach the playoffs. Skipper Faf du Plessis praised his team’s resilience, stating that coming back from a tough situation took a lot of heart.

During the match, Rajasthan’s Trent Boult and Ravichandran Ashwin played crucial roles in their disciplined bowling attack, restricting Bengaluru’s scoring. Despite some setbacks in their chase, Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer’s partnership helped Rajasthan get back on track. Rovman Powell’s unbeaten 16 and crucial six steered Rajasthan to victory. The team’s confidence was high as they looked forward to the next playoff match.

The intense heat in Ahmedabad was a challenge for both teams and spectators, with temperatures soaring above 43 degrees Celsius. Over 85,000 fans braved the heat to attend the eliminator match. To combat the extreme conditions, substitutes were seen running with towels and water bottles to keep the players hydrated. Heatwave alerts have been issued in many parts of India, highlighting the severity of the weather conditions.

In a season where Virat Kohli shined as the leading batsman, his efforts fell short as Bengaluru lost the crucial playoff match. Kohli’s dismissal by Yuzvendra Chahal was a blow to the team’s hopes of securing a win. Despite their disappointment, Bengaluru fought hard throughout the season to turn their fortunes around and make it to the playoffs. The team’s journey was a testament to their determination and spirit.

Looking ahead, Rajasthan Royals will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the next playoff match, with a spot in the final at stake. The clash between these two teams promises to be an exciting contest as they battle it out for a chance to lift the IPL trophy. As the tournament nears its conclusion, cricket fans await the final showdown to see which team emerges victorious. Stay tuned for more thrilling cricket action in the upcoming matches.
