Kuwait is demonstrating unwavering commitment to humanitarian aid, swiftly responding to the escalating crisis in the Gaza Strip. Recent initiatives led by Rahma International Society and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity Association are providing critical relief to displaced families and vulnerable children, addressing urgent needs for shelter, food, and medical care. This outpouring of support underscores Kuwait’s longstanding tradition of global humanitarian leadership and its dedication to alleviating suffering in times of crisis. The focus on Gaza relief efforts is paramount given the current circumstances.

Rahma International Society Delivers Emergency Shelter to Gaza

The humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached a critical point, particularly with the onset of harsh winter weather. Recognizing the immediate need for protection, Rahma International Society has launched the first phase of its emergency shelter project. This initiative involves dispatching relief trucks laden with essential supplies, primarily tents, to the besieged territory.

Providing Immediate Protection for Displaced Families

Director General of Rahma International, Dr. Issa Al-Dhafeeri, announced to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the initial delivery includes approximately 3,000 tents and 1,000 latrines. This assistance is being coordinated in close collaboration with the Egyptian Red Crescent to ensure efficient distribution to those most in need. The timing of this aid is crucial, as heavy rainfall and freezing temperatures exacerbate the already dire conditions faced by displaced individuals.

The project aims to provide a basic level of shelter and preserve human dignity for thousands who have lost their homes and essential resources. Dr. Al-Dhafeeri emphasized that shelter is now a top priority, given the worsening humanitarian landscape and the rapidly increasing needs on the ground. Rahma International is actively working to expand the scope of its response to reach a greater number of affected families.

Expanding Relief Beyond Shelter

This shelter project builds upon Rahma International’s existing humanitarian aid to Gaza. The Society recently concluded its “100,000 Meals” campaign, successfully distributing food to displaced persons and vulnerable families struggling with hunger. Dr. Al-Dhafeeri reaffirmed the Society’s unwavering commitment to supporting the people of Gaza and easing their suffering. He also expressed gratitude to Kuwaiti donors and official bodies for their generous support and facilitation of the humanitarian mission.

Al-Nouri Charity Association Focuses on Children’s Wellbeing

Alongside Rahma International’s efforts, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity Association is directing its resources towards protecting the most vulnerable population: children. The Association has signed a cooperation agreement with UNICEF, pledging a significant contribution of $1 million to support children in the Gaza Strip. This initiative comes as a direct response to the deteriorating humanitarian conditions and the severe shortages of food and medicine impacting the region.

Addressing the Unique Needs of Children

Jamal Al-Nouri, Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, highlighted the devastating impact of the crisis on children, particularly those with disabilities. He emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships with UN agencies like UNICEF, recognizing their efficiency in delivering aid despite challenging access conditions. The collaboration will focus on providing specialized food supplies to around 25,000 children and supporting health and medical services at primary healthcare centers, benefiting nearly 200,000 children. This support will strengthen the health sector’s capacity to cope with the current challenges.

Strengthening Partnerships for Effective Aid Delivery

Al-Nouri affirmed the Association’s commitment to collaborating with all organizations capable of delivering aid to Gaza, expressing readiness to forge international partnerships and joint agreements. This work is conducted in accordance with regulations set by the Ministries of Social Affairs and Foreign Affairs. The Association has been actively involved in Gaza since the beginning of the crisis, implementing various food, health, and relief programs. He acknowledged the crucial role of Kuwaiti supporters and benefactors, as well as the ongoing support of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in enabling Kuwaiti charitable organizations to effectively deliver aid and maintain its prominent position in global humanitarian work. The focus on children’s health is a vital component of overall Gaza relief efforts.

In conclusion, the swift and substantial response from Kuwaiti organizations like Rahma International Society and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity Association demonstrates a deep commitment to alleviating the suffering in Gaza. Through the provision of emergency shelter, essential food supplies, and critical medical assistance, these initiatives are making a tangible difference in the lives of displaced families and vulnerable children. This ongoing support reinforces Kuwait’s reputation as a leading humanitarian actor and encourages continued collaboration to address the evolving needs of those affected by the crisis.
