Qatar University offers students an employment program aimed at enhancing their skills and improving their career prospects while studying. The program is designed to enrich the educational experience and provide essential services to the University community. To qualify, students must be enrolled at Qatar University, have completed at least 24 credit hours with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, and have successfully attended the career excellence workshop.

Abdullah Al Kibisi, a law student at Qatar University, shared his experience as a dramatist at the Department of Culture and Arts. He mentioned that the role has refined his play-writing skills and complemented his major field of drafting legal documents. The opportunity has enhanced his Arabic writing skills, allowed him to gain recognition for his work, and helped him engage more deeply with the University community.

After completing the workshop, students are encouraged to apply for available positions based on their interests and career goals. Job opportunities fall into three main categories: academic, administrative, and technical, depending on the departments and current vacancies. High-achieving students might qualify for academic roles, such as peer tutoring for their fellow students. Sara Amro, a media student at Qatar University, shared her experience as a peer teacher, highlighting the rewarding nature of the role and how it has enhanced her skills and attributes.

Students who participate in the program are required to work a maximum of 20 hours per week to ensure that their academic performance is not affected. In addition to boosting the student employment experience, the program also helps develop essential skills such as communication, problem-solving, time management, and teamwork. The financial aspect of the program serves as additional motivation, providing students with a tangible reward for their efforts and enhancing their overall learning experience.

In conclusion, Qatar University’s employment program offers students a unique opportunity to gain practical experience, enhance their skills, and improve their career prospects while studying. By participating in roles that align with their interests and career goals, students can not only earn a financial reward but also develop crucial skills that will benefit them in their future careers. The program serves as a valuable resource for students looking to gain hands-on experience and make a positive impact within the University community.
