During the annual local season in Doha, races are held to the same standards as those in Europe, with the goal of enticing more international owners and trainers to bring their horses to Qatar’s top races. This also provides local owners and trainers with the opportunity to participate in renowned European races and gives Qatari-owned horses the chance to compete against top competition and showcase their skills in challenging races.
One of the highly anticipated races sponsored by QREC is the Gr.2 PA Qatar Prix de l’Élevage, which will be held in Toulouse, France, on May 21, 2024. This race is reserved for four-year-old and older mares, with seven mares set to compete, including Al Wakrah and Marwa, both running in the Al Shaqab Racing silks. Last year’s edition of the Qatar Prix de l’Élevage was won by Al Doha, a Purebred Arabian mare owned by H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani. Trained by Thomas Fourcy, Al Doha went on to claim more victories, including a recent Group 1 win at Longchamp.
