Doha, Qatar – The Qatar News Agency (QNA) has completed its 2025 series of media training courses and workshops, bolstering the skills of journalists and communications professionals across Qatar and neighboring Saudi Arabia. The initiative, delivered through the QNA Training Center, reflects a commitment to developing a highly skilled media workforce capable of navigating the evolving digital landscape. Approximately 316 individuals participated in the programs this year.

The training culminated in a specialized course focused on government protocol and etiquette, covering topics such as VIP reception, agreement signing procedures, and hierarchical precedence. This comprehensive program, led by Dr. Saadoun bin Hussein Al Hamdani of the International Academy of Diplomacy and Etiquette, underscores QNA’s dedication to professional standards in all aspects of news delivery and official communications.

Investing in Future Media Professionals Through Comprehensive Training

QNA’s 2025 training program encompassed a broad spectrum of media training specializations, responding to the increasing demands of modern journalism. These courses weren’t limited to traditional skills; they also addressed emerging technologies and methodologies. This proactive approach aims to ensure Qatar’s media sector remains competitive and relevant on a global scale.

Key Training Areas

The curriculum included courses in journalistic editing, data analysis, and digital media strategies. Additionally, participants received instruction in the application of artificial intelligence in news work, a rapidly developing field with significant implications for news gathering and dissemination. Other areas of focus included news verification, media content production, and media translation, alongside foundational administrative workshops.

According to QNA, the expansion of training programs reflects a broader trend toward diversifying skill sets and adapting to the latest industry practices. This emphasis on continuous learning is crucial in a field characterized by constant technological advancements and shifting audience behaviors. The agency’s investment in these areas is intended to improve the overall quality and efficiency of news content produced in Qatar.

The QNA Training Center, launched in 2023, provides a state-of-the-art learning environment equipped with the latest technologies. This facility serves as an integrated platform for building media capabilities and staying abreast of global developments in the field. The center’s resources are available to QNA staff as well as professionals from other government entities and, increasingly, regional partners like the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The inclusion of participants from the Saudi Press Agency highlights a growing trend of regional collaboration in journalism training. This partnership allows for the exchange of best practices and the development of a more unified approach to media professionalism across the Gulf region. Such collaborations are expected to continue as both countries invest in strengthening their media sectors.

Looking ahead, QNA is preparing to unveil its 2026 media training plan, built on a forward-thinking development vision. The new plan will prioritize areas such as artificial intelligence, digital media, and data journalism, responding to the evolving needs of the industry. The agency anticipates releasing the full schedule of courses by the end of the first quarter of 2026. The specific budget allocation and the number of anticipated participants remain to be determined, pending final approvals.

While the success of the 2025 program demonstrates QNA’s commitment to media development, the long-term impact will depend on the continued integration of these newly acquired skills into daily journalistic practice. Monitoring the quality of news content and the adoption of new technologies will be key indicators of the program’s effectiveness in the coming years.
