The delegation from Qatar, representing the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) and Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post), recently participated in the 2024 session of the Universal Postal Union’s (UPU) Council of Administration (CA) in Switzerland. From November 4 to November 8, the Qatari delegation played a key role in strategic discussions and committee leadership, showcasing Qatar’s influence in shaping global postal standards and practices. Qatar co-chaired Committee 4 with the Republic of Belarus, focusing on Development Cooperation and Technical Assistance to advance the global postal sector and address disparities in postal infrastructure.

Qatar’s active engagement at the UPU session demonstrated its commitment to sustainable, innovative, and cooperative solutions for global postal systems. The discussions during the session covered various critical topics such as disaster risk management, quality of service enhancements, financial inclusion initiatives, and sustainable development strategies. By participating in shaping postal policies and projects that will extend into 2029 through the Quality of Service Fund (QSF) and the Integrated Quality of Service Plan (IQP), Qatar reaffirmed its dedication to promoting universal access to reliable postal services.

The participation of CRA in the UPU session further reinforced Qatar’s position on the global stage and ensured alignment of national postal policy with international standards. By actively engaging in discussions and decision-making processes, Qatar aims to stay at the forefront of regulatory, operational, and policy advancements in the postal landscape. This commitment not only benefits consumers and Service Providers within Qatar but also contributes to the development and enhancement of the global postal community.

The delegation’s involvement at the UPU session also highlighted Qatar’s contributions to the global postal community in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third Qatar National Development Strategy 2024 – 2030. CRA remains dedicated to advancing Qatar’s vision for sustainable, long-term growth through international collaboration and excellence in postal governance. By participating in key international forums and initiatives, Qatar aims to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the postal sector and ensuring universal access to postal services for all.

Overall, Qatar’s active participation at the UPU session showcased its commitment to promoting inclusive initiatives, addressing disparities in postal infrastructure, and fostering universal access to reliable postal services. By co-chairing Committee 4 and engaging in strategic discussions on critical topics, Qatar demonstrated its dedication to advancing the global postal sector and supporting sustainable development goals. Through its involvement, Qatar continues to strengthen its position on the global stage and contribute to the enhancement of international postal standards and practices.
