HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, the Permanent Representative of Qatar to the United Nations, recently met with US Special Envoy to Sudan, HE Tom Perriello to discuss the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan. One of the key points of discussion was Qatar’s ongoing support for Sudan, including the operation of an air bridge since May 2023 and the provision of shelter supplies to those affected by recent floods.

During the meeting, HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani highlighted Qatar’s commitment to supporting the people of Sudan in the face of the challenging circumstances they are currently facing. Qatar has pledged USD 75 million to support Sudan since the crisis began in the country, demonstrating the country’s dedication to assisting its brotherly nation during these difficult times.

The State of Qatar’s air bridge to Sudan has been instrumental in providing much-needed aid to the country, which has been facing ongoing fighting and a dire humanitarian situation. This support has been essential in helping the Sudanese people cope with the challenges they are currently facing, and Qatar remains committed to providing further assistance in the future.

In addition to its financial support, Qatar has also been providing shelter supplies to those affected by floods in Sudan last month. This assistance has been crucial in helping those impacted by the natural disaster rebuild their lives and regain stability during these challenging times.

HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani’s meeting with HE Tom Perriello underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing humanitarian crises such as the one currently unfolding in Sudan. The partnership between Qatar and the United States in providing support to Sudan highlights the global community’s commitment to helping those in need and working towards a more stable and peaceful future for the country.

As Qatar continues to provide assistance to Sudan, it is clear that the country remains dedicated to supporting its brotherly nation during these challenging times. Through initiatives such as the air bridge and financial support, Qatar is helping to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and provide them with the help they need to rebuild and recover from the current crisis.
