Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, the rally legend from Qatar, is all set to compete in this year’s Jordan Rally, the second round of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC). Scheduled for May 17 and 18, the event has attracted a total of 29 entries from eight nations. The rally will take place over two days, featuring 15 challenging special stages in the Jordan Valley and Dead Sea areas.

With an impressive record of 19 regional rally championships under his belt, Al Attiyah will be driving a Skoda Fabia at the upcoming Jordan Rally. He will be up against tough competition, including Oman’s Abdullah Al Rawahi, last year’s winner of the rally. Al Rawahi and Al Attiyah shared the MERC Drivers’ Championship last season in a tie. This year, they will both be driving Škoda Fabia RS Rally2s in the premier category.

Other notable competitors in the rally include Abdulaziz Al Kuwari and Khalid Al Suwaidi, both backed by QMMF in their Skodas, as well as local driver Bader Al Fayez and Qatari veteran Nasser Khalifa Al Atya. Denis Krotov, who comes from the world of cross-country rallying, will also be trying his hand at the MERC for the first time in a SRT-run Fabia Rally2 Evo. The showroom NR4 group will be dominated by Jordanian drivers, with Issa Abu Jamous leading a strong lineup of local stars.

In addition to the main MERC event, there will be separate classifications for Group M2 and Group 2, where Jordanian and Palestinian crews will battle it out for national honors. The rally will cover a total of 532.39 km, with an increased 223.96 km of competitive kilometers across 15 special stages. With a new Clerk of the Course and his deputy overseeing the event, Jordan Motorsport is gearing up for an exciting and action-packed rally in the stunning landscapes of Jordan.

Overall, the Jordan Rally promises to be a thrilling and competitive event, with Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah leading the charge for victory. With a strong lineup of competitors from various nations, including Oman, Qatar, and Jordan, the rally is set to showcase some of the best talents in the region. Fans can look forward to two days of high-speed action and intense competition as drivers battle it out on the challenging special stages in the Jordan Valley and Dead Sea areas.

As Al Attiyah aims for his 16th victory in Jordan, all eyes will be on him and his Skoda Fabia as he navigates the tricky terrain and fierce competition. With a record-breaking career and an impressive track record, the Qatari rally ace will be looking to add another title to his long list of achievements. Stay tuned for updates and results from the Jordan Rally as the drivers rev up their engines and race towards the finish line in pursuit of glory.
