The National Archives of Qatar recently celebrated Arab Document Day with an event that included educational staff from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The event focused on the importance of preserving documentary heritage and the significance of documents in recording history. The workshop, led by Al Ghalia Al Mansouri, highlighted the vital role that documents play in shaping national identity and understanding history. Acting Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department at the National Archives, Noura Al Qubaisi, emphasized the importance of educating the younger generations about preserving historical documents.

The collaboration between the National Archives of Qatar and the MOEHE aims to enhance the concept of documentation and instill its importance in students. Educational cadres from the MOEHE participated in an awareness workshop on preserving documentary heritage and took a tour of the National Archives of Qatar exhibition “Journey of Knowledge.” The exhibition showcases various documents that shaped Qatar’s history and heritage, providing insight into the mission and goals of the National Archives of Qatar.

The National Archives of Qatar believes that history is a legacy that must be preserved, and it is the responsibility of future generations to protect the heritage of the State of Qatar. By strengthening its partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the National Archives aims to educate young people about the significance of preserving documentary heritage and involving them in safeguarding historical documents for future generations. Arab Document Day serves as a reminder of the pivotal role that documents play in shaping the future by recording history for future use and inheritance.

The joint cooperation between the National Archives of Qatar and the MOEHE contributes to instilling citizenship values and a sense of belonging among young people. By integrating the role and importance of the Qatar National Archives into educational curricula and school activities, the partnership ensures the transmission of heritage across generations and guarantees its continuity. Educating young generations about the importance of preserving historical documents not only safeguards the country’s heritage but also empowers them to actively participate in protecting and utilizing historical documents for future accomplishments. Overall, the event highlighted the crucial role that documents play in preserving history and national identity for future generations.
