Qatar’s beach volleyball team is gearing up for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with the goal of winning their second consecutive medal. After securing the bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Games, the team of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan is ready to take on the world’s best in Paris. The Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) has expressed confidence in the team’s abilities, highlighting their success in the sport since 2014.

Since 2014, Qatar’s beach volleyball team has been making waves in the Arab and Asian rankings, with gold medals at the Asian Games in Jakarta Palembang 2018 and Hangzhou 2022. The QVA’s commitment to developing the sport through international, regional, and local tournaments has led to the establishment of a strong Qatari team, with the duo of Younousse and Tijan standing out.

Younousse and Tijan have achieved top positions in international rankings and made history as the first Arab team to qualify for an Olympic final. The long-term plan developed by the QVA, along with the support of Qatar’s leadership, has played a significant role in the team’s success. President of the QVA and WAVA, Ali Ghanim Al Kuwari, commended the team’s qualification for Paris 2024 and highlighted the support athletes in Qatar receive.

The team’s journey in Paris will kick off with a match against Italy’s Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava on July 28, followed by a match against Sweden and Australia on July 29 and August 1, respectively. The QVA aims to represent Qatar’s sports effectively in various competitions and achieve the best results at regional, continental, and global levels. Al Kuwari praised Younousse and Tijan for their exceptional plays and results, emphasizing the importance of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
