Qatar wins nine medals at the West Asian Table Tennis Championships

Qatar has been dominating the West Asian Table Tennis Championships in Amman, Jordan, with a total of nine medals – 3 gold, 5 silver, and 1 bronze. The players have excelled in both team and individual events, showcasing their talent and skills on the table. The President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, congratulated the athletes and the Qatar Table Tennis Federation for their outstanding performance in the championships.

The Qatar team secured their first gold medal in the U-17 category by defeating Bahrain in the final. The players Sultan Khalid Al Kuwari, Abbad Al Abdullah, Ahmed Eid Qarni, and Rawad Al Nasser put up a commendable performance to claim the top spot on the podium. Another gold came in the U-15 category, with Mohammed Al Sulaiti, Abdulaziz Al Abdullah, and Youssef Abdul Dhaher clinching victory over Saudi Arabia in the title clash. Qatar also achieved silver medals in the U-11 team events and the boys’ U-13 category, along with a bronze in the women’s team event in the senior category.

The Qatar Table Tennis Federation President, Khalil bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi, expressed his happiness with the team’s achievements and stated that they are aiming for more medals in the singles and doubles events. The players were well prepared for the championships, and the results have boosted their confidence. Qatar is hopeful for continued success in the remaining competitions of the West Asian Championships.
