Qatar is participating in the World Cities Summit in Singapore, with Minister of Municipality H E Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah leading the delegation. The summit brings together ministers and mayors in charge of urban planning from various cities around the world. During the event, Minister Al Attiyah met with Minister for Sustainability and the Environment H E Grace Fu to discuss avenues of cooperation between Qatar and Singapore, particularly in the fields of food security and waste treatment.

The World Cities Summit includes various key events such as the Mayors Forum and the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize. It provides a platform for government leaders and experts to discuss challenges facing sustainable cities and share integrated urban solutions. The summit also focuses on opportunities to achieve smart, flexible, and renewable cities in both the present and future. With the increasing urbanization and population growth, it is crucial for cities to focus on sustainability and livability for their residents.

One of the main topics of discussion at the summit is food security, which is a pressing issue for many countries around the world. Qatar is particularly interested in collaborating with Singapore on this issue, as both countries face challenges in ensuring a stable and sufficient food supply for their populations. By sharing knowledge and best practices in food production and distribution, Qatar and Singapore can work together towards achieving food security goals for their citizens.

Another important aspect of the summit is waste treatment, as cities are facing a growing waste management problem due to increasing consumption and urbanization. Qatar and Singapore can benefit from sharing technologies and strategies for efficient waste treatment and recycling. By working together, both countries can reduce the environmental impact of waste and move towards a more sustainable and greener future.

Overall, the World Cities Summit provides a valuable opportunity for Qatar and Singapore to strengthen their cooperation in urban planning and sustainable development. By sharing expertise and collaborating on common challenges, both countries can work towards creating more livable and resilient cities for their residents. Through initiatives like the Mayors Forum and the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize, Qatar and Singapore can exchange ideas and best practices to address the complex issues facing modern cities and pave the way for a more sustainable future.
