Qatar pledges to support Afghan people in health, education, and development sectors

Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi recently met with Afghan caretaker officials in Kabul, including high-ranking government figures such as First Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Ghani Baradar and Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi. The discussions focused on various aspects such as politics, humanitarian aid, development, and security in Afghanistan. Qatar emphasized the importance of dialogue and cooperation with the international community to find sustainable solutions for maintaining security and stability in the country.

Dr. Al Khulaifi expressed Qatar’s satisfaction with the progress made by Afghanistan in combating terrorism, corruption, and drugs. He called on the caretaker government to prioritize national reconciliation, human rights protection, and social peace among different societal groups. Qatar announced its intention to build a specialized hospital for women and children in Afghanistan, equipped with the latest medical technology to provide high-quality healthcare services. Qatar also pledged to continue supporting the health sector infrastructure in various provinces of Afghanistan.

Moreover, Qatar reiterated its commitment to assisting Afghanistan in health, education, humanitarian aid, and development projects. The Qatar Fund for Development signed an agreement with the World Health Organization to support basic health services in 11 Afghan provinces. Additionally, the Education Above All Foundation partnered with the Afghan Ministry of Education Development to support 30,000 out-of-school young people. Recent floods in Baghlan province prompted Qatar to provide immediate humanitarian aid, including food, medical supplies, shelter materials, and ambulances.

Qatar’s initiatives, such as establishing a specialized hospital and providing aid after natural disasters, reflect its ongoing dedication to assisting Afghanistan in various sectors. Through strategic partnerships and investments, Qatar aims to contribute to the sustainable growth and well-being of the Afghan people.
