Qatar Museums (QM) has launched a new initiative called Art for Stories, which aims to engage the public with QM’s diverse collection and the stories behind the artefacts. As part of this initiative, displays featuring some of the most prized artefacts from the Museum of Islamic Art are now on view at Place Vendôme in Lusail. These artefacts include a gem-set enamelled gold falcon, a steel war mask, and an astrolabe.

Each display plinth features a prompt that encourages visitors to reflect on the piece and invites them to scan a QR code to learn more about it. Shaika Al Nassr, the Director of the Museum of Islamic Art, expressed her excitement about this initiative, stating that it is an excellent way to generate more awareness around their magnificent collection and share it with the wider public. She also emphasized the importance of partnering with Place Vendôme to bring these artefacts outside of the museum’s walls and inspire people to explore what they have to offer.

Carole Sabbagha, Mall Manager of Place Vendôme, also shared her enthusiasm about the collaboration with Qatar Museums. She highlighted the significance of this exhibition, which marks a special debut of Qatar Museums artefacts outside of their usual setting. This initiative not only strengthens the partnership between Place Vendôme and Qatar Museums but also demonstrates their commitment to promoting cultural enrichment within the community.

The displays at Place Vendôme will be available for public viewing for three months, providing a unique opportunity for people to immerse themselves in the rich history and cultural significance of these artefacts. This collaboration between Qatar Museums and Place Vendôme symbolizes a shared vision to bring art and culture to a wider audience and create meaningful experiences for the community.

Visitors to Place Vendôme can expect to be captivated by the beauty and historical significance of the artefacts on display, as well as the stories that accompany them. By scanning the QR codes available on each display plinth, they can access more information about the artefacts and delve deeper into their cultural importance. This interactive and engaging experience encourages visitors to learn, reflect, and appreciate the rich heritage that Qatar Museums has to offer.

Overall, the Art for Stories initiative at Place Vendôme in Lusail represents a collaborative effort between Qatar Museums and the community to promote cultural enrichment and appreciation of art. Through this partnership, visitors have the opportunity to explore and engage with the Museum of Islamic Art’s collection in a unique and accessible way, outside of the traditional museum setting. By showcasing these artefacts at Place Vendôme, Qatar Museums aims to inspire curiosity, spark conversations, and foster a deeper connection between the public and the rich cultural heritage of Qatar.
